Description:

An evergreen upright shrub with small dense bright green foliage producing pretty semi double silvery soft pink followers with crinkly petals in early to late autumn.

Screening, hedging, large containers and espaliers.

Position:

Camellia sasanqua tolerates more sun than japonica camellias. Grows best in sunny or partly shaded positions in well drained slightly acidic soil. Combine soil with organic matter before planting for best results.

Care:

Keep moist in the heat. Apply compost mulch, leaf mould or other organic matter to keep roots cool. Lightly trim to shape in spring and feed with a specific camellia fertiliser or complete organic fertiliser. Avoid lime.

Planting:

Plant in free draining soil and mix in organic matter and mulch well.
