Position:

Well drained, friable loam soil is best. Try to avoid heavy clay or light sandy soils. Choose an open position sheltered from hot afternoon sun or site with very light shade given by small leafed trees. Dense shade restricts flowering.

Care:

Keep moist, particularly in dry weather and preferably apply mulch such as compost, leaf, mould or other organic matter in late spring to keep roots cool. May be trimmed to shape in early spring. Fertilise annually and avoid adding lime.

Planting:

Plant in a free draining soil and mix in organic matter and mulch well.
